YOU CAN HELP

Have you made a note of our new email address?  foccasanimals@gmail.com

Would you help our animals this winter?  (posted Nov. 2011)

**** Small bite size dry dog food (nothing fancy)

**** Can food for small dogs.

**** Blankets, towels, flannel sheets.  (We cannot accept electric blankets or anything that is quilted or "stuffed" .  The animals tear it apart and it ends of clogging the drain.)  Blankets are always needed no matter what time of year.  We want to keep the young, the old and the injured warm and cozy at all times.

There are three ways you can assist in caring for the animals:  1) volunteer to work on shelter premises  2) volunteer off premises (i.e. events, publicity)   3) donation of funds or product.

1) Volunteer to work on shelter premises ~ Sheriff Dept. Volunteer

APPLICATIONS ARE NO LONGER BEING ACCEPTED

2) Volunteer off premises ~ FOCCAS Volunteer

With this we ask that you complete a FOCCAS volunteer application form which you can pick up from the shelter office (open Monday through Friday between 2:00 - 3:00pm) or one can be mailed to you.

This is a quick and painless procedure.  There are no age requirements.  The more people involved the better.  There is always something that needs to be done whether it's picking up donated food or blankets,  posting flyers, speaking at schools, creating a Fair booth, photographing the animals so we can put them on Petfinder.  It just depends on how much time and how much drive you have.

3) Donation of funds or product

Monetary donations of any size are welcome.  Friends of Colusa County Animal Shelter is a registered 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization.

Our mailing address is:  FOCCAS,   P.O. Box 147,   Colusa, CA    95932.

DISCLAIMER:  All  FOCCAS  donation/collection boxes are always clearly marked with our name, address and phone number.  FOCCAS is not affiliated with any other group.

Funds are used for emergency  medical care, spay/neuter,  Parvo vaccinations, de-worm  & de-flea projects, eye ointment,  Kuranda dog beds, disinfectant, dog and cat toys, dog cookies, leashes and collars, swamp cooler and interior lighting repair for the shelter, interior paint and the list goes on.

The county has made no budgetary allowance for dog or cat food so we rely on leftovers from the larger shelters in N. California.  We have a wonderful volunteer who drives two hours round trip to pick up the donated dry and canned food.  Blankets, washable toys, dog cookies (medium size) are  welcome.  You can drop off items at the shelter office (open 5 days a weeks between 2 - 3pm) or leave them by the door (during the day only).

Thank you to Mr. George Bivert of Bivert Construction & Plumbing.  He answered the call for help because the kennel drains were clogged and the county has no more funding.  George cleared the drains at no charge!  You can reach George at 530-908-5426.  He is California licensed general building contractor.  Thank you George.
